Scarey Pelt felts the rest, wins April 8 Women’s Sunday

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgApril is a big month for PokerStars Women. We're in our second year of the Women's Sunday, which is exciting in itself, and we're in our fourth month of the 2012 Women's Poker League with the three divisions. And we're going to host our third $11 Women's Tuesday in a few days with its $1K guarantee.

This is also the last month to qualify for the PS Women Live tournament in Monte Carlo. There are still a few €2,500 prize packages to be awarded, but there's not much time left! The action will happen at the EPT Grand Final from April 29 to May 2, so get in on those daily satellites and work your way to next Sunday's prize package giveaway soon!

Back to the action today, here's our Women's Sunday numbers:

Total players: 265
Prize pool: $13,250.00
Paid finishers: 45

Of the Team Pros in the field today, Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the first to exit, giving up her $50 bounty in the first hour of play. Further into play, Team Pro Vivian Im made a deep run but finished in 99th place, and Liv Boeree left in 52nd place, just a few spots away from the money.

That money bubble burst when sm2011 busted in 46th place, and Mariiia91 then took home $79.50 for her 45th place finish. At that point, with only five and then four tables remaining, none other than Team Pro Ana Marquez was in the top spot on the leaderboard. Scarey Pelt did take over that lead, and Ms. Marquez fought to stay in the top 10 as the field was reduced to three tables.

About 3 hours and 15 minutes into the tournament, bbchoc exited in 11th place to bring on hand-for-hand play. Moments later, short-stacked Brigitte7 pushed her 9,240 chips all-in with [Ad][2h], and RoseKoehler and .Ta2.Terry! both called. They checked the [7c][5c][9c] flop, and when RoseKoehler bet the [5s] turn, .Ta2.Terry! folded. RoseKoehler showed [Ac][6c] for the flopped flush, and the [9d] ended the tournament for Brigitte7 in tenth place, which was worth $198.75.

Things looking rosy for RoseKoehler

These were the starting stacks a few hands into the final table action:

Seat 1: Elz442 (68,317 in chips)
Seat 2: .Ta2.Terry! (94,168 in chips)
Seat 3: SummerLove X (111,973 in chips)
Seat 4: 1989masha (114,852 in chips)
Seat 5: kino8 (62,576 in chips)
Seat 6: Scarey Pelt (74,786 in chips)
Seat 7: ana marquez (101,678 in chips)
Seat 8: MothaPoka (24,483 in chips)
Seat 9: RoseKoehler (142,167 in chips)

WS FT 04.08.12.JPG

It didn't take long for Ana Marquez to jump into the lead, but Elz442 was close behind and soon climbed into the number one spot.

After the 3.5-hour break, the first hand back was a big one. MotherPoka moved all-in from middle position for her short stack of 12,083 chips. RoseKoehler reraised to 27,000, and SUmmerLove X reraised all-in for 90,073 chips. RoseKoehler called again.

MothaPoka: [Ac][6c]
SummerLove X: [Ah][Ks]
RoseKoehler: [Qs][Qc]

the board blanked with [2s][Jh][9s][5s][3h], and the queens held up to eliminate MothaPoka in ninth place with $231.87 and SummerLove X in eighth with $318.00.

Kino8 was the next of the short stacks to move all-in, doing so from the button with [As][9s]. Elz442 was the original raiser and called with [Ad][4h] but made a straight on the [7c][5d][6d][2s][3c] board. Kino8 was ousted in seventh place with $450.50.

A few double-ups followed, as Scarey Pelt doubled through Elz442, and the latter then doubled through RoseKoehler. But RoseKoehler maintained a substantial lead over the group of remaining players.

When .Ta2.Terry! was ready to make her all-in move, RoseKoehler was there to make the call with [Th][Tc], and .Ta2.Terry! needed help for her [Ah][2s]. The board of [8h][9s][8d][4s][6d] didn't provide it, though, and .Ta2.Terry! was eliminated in sixth place with $583.00.

More double-ups ensued. 1989masha doubled through Ana Marquez, who then doubled through RoseKoehler to stay alive. Scarey Pelt then took a pot worth 248,500 chips from RoseKoehler to jump into the chip lead.

Elz442 was the next player to risk everything, and she did it UTG with [AH][2h]. RoseKoehler called from the big blind with [Ac][Qc], which improved to an even better hand when the [Js][Ks][7h][Td][2c] gave her the straight. Elz442 had to leave in fifth place with $755.25.

Adios Ana

Ana Marquez had been working a short stack and finally pushed it all-in preflop from the big blind with [6d][6s]. Original raiser RoseKoehler called, as did 1989masha from the button. Both players checked the [5d][Jd][Qh] flop, as well as the [Qc] turn and [Qd] river. Ana Marquez showed her full house, but 1989masha turned over [Ad][Js] for queens full of jacks and the better full house. Team PokerStars Pro Ana Marquez finished the tournament in fourth place with $1,093.12.

Ana Marquez 3.jpg

RoseKoehler was the shortest of the three remaining players, and she soon moved all-in preflop with [Ac][8s]. Scarey Pelt called with [Qc][Qs], though, and that pocket pair improved to two pair on the [6d][Kd][9d][Tc][6s] board. RoseKoehler was ousted in third place, which was worth $1,457.50 in prize money.

Switzerland vs. Netherlands

The final two players began their battle with these stacks:

Seat 4: 1989masha (238,658 in chips)
Seat 6: Scarey Pelt (556,342 in chips)

On the eighth hand, we had fireworks. Action started with a raised flop of [5s][7s][7c]. 1989masha bet, and Scarey Pelt check-raised. 1989masha responded with an all-in call holding [Jd][Jc], but the two pair wasn't good enough to compare with the [Ac][7h] and trip sevens of Scarey Pelt. The [4s] and [6d] finished the board and left 1989masha out in second place with $1,921.25.

Scarey Pelt of Switzerland became this week's Women's Sunday champion and won $2,563.99 in cash. Congrats!

Women's Sunday Results for 04/08/12:

1st place: Scarey Pelt ($2,563.99)
2nd place: 1989masha ($1,921.25)
3rd place: RoseKoehler ($1,457.50)

No joke, leglybrunete wins April 1 Women’s Sunday

Sunday, April 1st, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgAfter all the excitement of last weekend's Women's Sunday birthday celebration, it was time to get back to normal this weekend. But we're not going to lie. The absence of the web chat and all of the birthday messages was a bit of a letdown. We also miss the virtual birthday cakes.

Even so, we still have our Women's Sunday! It is as thrilling as ever, with its $10,000 guarantee and $50 Team Pro bounties. We also now have the Women's Tuesday on the calendar each week, the 6-max No Limit Hold'em tournament which is already a popular event for women with its $1,000 guarantee. And today kicks off another month of the always-exciting Women's Poker League, where three divisions offer our players the chance to win big cash prizes for points each month. As the March numbers are being calculated, players are already off to conquer the April divisions.

Let's take a look at this week's Women's Sunday numbers:

Total players: 283
Prize pool: $14,150.00
Paid finishers: 45

It didn't take long for some of the Team Pros to exit today, as Celina Lin and Liv Boeree were both eliminated in the first hour of action. Team Pro Ana Marquez of Spain lasted a bit longer and exited in 208th place. Still going strong in the top half of the remaining players was Vanessa Selbst, playing her usual aggressive game heading into the third hour of the tournament.

The money bubble burst just into that third hour, as hand-for-hand play quickly led to the 46th place elimination of kassike. That left a minimum of $84.90 for each of the remaining players, and ladysandri was the first to collect that amount.

Selbst was soon to follow, losing a big hand and going from 20th place on the leaderboard to a 42nd place exit.

Just after the 2.5-hour break, three tables were reduced to two in only 15 minutes. And just past the three-hour mark, the elimination of jdcdman in 11th place brought hand-for-hand play into motion. A few minutes later, Dalma85 made a push with [Ac][Td], and dwxwb called with a dominating [Ad][Qd]. The board came [9d][As][9c][4c][Qh], and Dalma85 had to go in tenth place with $212.25.

Pengwin402 waddles into chip lead

The starting chip stacks at the final table were as follows:

Seat 1: simonikka (20,533 in chips)
Seat 2: chinuchinu (92,877 in chips)
Seat 3: she6 (48,535 in chips)
Seat 4: Ira_161 (67,796 in chips)
Seat 5: mamalice (110,283 in chips)
Seat 6: pengwin402 (157,540 in chips)
Seat 7: evjersen (125,967 in chips)
Seat 8: dwxwb (137,906 in chips)
Seat 9: leglybrunete (87,563 in chips)

WS FT 04.01.12.JPG

The third hand of the final table saw simonikka push all-in for 19,333 chips from middle position. Evjersen called from the big blind with [Ts][9s], and simonikka was ahead with [As][Jc]. But the flop of [8h][7s][Ac] gave evjersen the straight draw, and the [Jd] on the turn completed it. The [7c] on the river eliminated simonikka in ninth place with $247.62.

She6 was next to risk it all, making the push from the big blind with [As][Qc]. But it just so happened that original raiser dwxwb had [Ad][Ah] and easily made the call. Nothing about the [Kd][7d][2c][4d][9c] board changed the outcome, and she6 was gone in eighth place with $339.60.

Chinuchinu then got into a hand with evjersen and leglybrunete to see a raised flop of [3h][9d][Td]. Chinuchinu bet, evjersen called, and leglybrunete folded. The [8d] on the turn prompted chinuchinu to move all-in for just under 39K chips, and evjersen called with [9s][9c], which dominated the [Kc][Qs] of chinuchinu. The river was the [2d], and chinuchinu left in seventh place with $481.10.

Two hands later, Ira_161 raised all-in from the small blind with [Qc][Th], and mamalice called from the big blind with [Kd][Js]. The interesting board came [2d][2c][Jc][Tc][2h], giving both players full houses but mamalice had the better one with deuces full of jacks. Ira_161 exited in sixth place with $622.60.

Mamalice takes over

This double-up put mamalice in the lead:

Dwxwb was reduced to little more than 15K chips and moved all-in on the next hand with [Kc][9c]. Leglybrunete called from the button with [Qd][5d]. The flop of [Kh][Qs][Ad] kept dwxwb in the lead, as did the [2c] on the turn, but the [Qc] on the river gave leglybrunete trip queens to eliminate dwxwb in fifth place, which was worth $806.55.

Four-handed play was rather intense and calculated, as more than $2700 awaited the ultimate winner of the tournament. The shortest stack was held by evjersen, who finally risked it all with [Ah][2c] against the [As][5d] of mamalice. The better hand only improved on the [Ts][6c][5h][Kh][6h] board, and evjersen had to depart in fourth place with $1,167.37.

Leglybrunete was able to double-up through mamalice, though, in this hand:

RSS readers click through to see replay

Pengwin402 needed to make a move soon. She got involved with leglybrunete to see a raised flop of [Ad][As][9d], and pengwin402 then moved all-in. Leglybrunete called with [Ah][5h] for the set of aces, while pengwin402 showed [Kd][Qs]. The [3s] and [6c] completed the board and left pengwin402 out in third place with $1,556.50.

Two hands to decide it all

The final two players stacked up like this:

Seat 5: mamalice (387,624 in chips)
Seat 9: leglybrunete (461,376 in chips)

On the second hand, a preflop raising war saw mamalice make the all-in push with [9s][9d], and leglybrunete called with [Ad][7s]. The board came [As][Jc][Kd][6c][2s], and the pair of aces was enough to eliminate mamalice in second place with $2,051.75.

Leglybrunete of Canada won the April 1st Women's Sunday and $2,738.14 in cash. Congrats!

Women's Sunday Results for 04/01/12:

1st place: leglybrunete ($2,738.14)
2nd place: mamalice ($2,051.75)
3rd place: pengwin402 ($1,556.50)
4th place: evjersen ($1,167.37)
5th place: dwxwb ($806.55)
6th place: Ira_161 ($622.60)
7th place: chinuchinu ($481.10)
8th place: she6 ($339.60)
9th place: simonikka ($247.62)

A VIP win of $5,236.15 for RiusVIP in the Women’s Sunday First Birthday

Monday, March 26th, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgHappy Birthday to us! We wanted to celebrate with all of our players and fans, so we doubled the guarantees and bounties for this special birthday Women's Sunday. And the response was fantastic! After a week of celebratory freerolls and today's live web chat, this was icing on our PokerStars Women cake. (This cake, by the way, was the winning photo in our Flickr competition, and Marjamma won a $215 Sunday Million ticket for baking this for us.)

Flickr WINNER - Marjamma - cake.jpg

Today's web chat went better than we could have imagined, with more than 2,584 viewers and 1,683 comments. With Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowesome and Team Pro Celina Lin answering questions and interacting with fans, it was a whirlwind of an hour. We gave away some PokerStars women's t-shirts to trivia winners, announced all of the winners of the Flickr competition, and gave the password to a special $1K freeroll.

And to wrap things up, we announced the big official launch of the Women's Tuesday 6-max NLHE tournament, which will happen this Tuesday, March 27 at 15:00 ET with a $1K guarantee. Satellites will run for as little as $1.10, and all who register for this week's tournament will receive a $5.50 satellite ticket as a bonus.

If you missed it, you can replay the web chat at your leisure.

And on top of everything, the Women's Sunday event numbers today were simply outstanding! The $20K guarantee and $100 bounties on the Team Pros attracted quite the field:

Total players: 557
Prize pool: $27,850.00
Paid finishers: 81

The Team Pros were everywhere in this tournament, though the first to find herself on the rail was Celina Lin. Fellow Team Asia Pro Vivian Im followed her to the rail in short order. Team Pro Liv Boeree exited soon after in 362nd place, and Vanessa Selbst also took leave of her virtual seat, leaving in 304th place. Team Pro Sandra Naujoks finished at about the 1.5-hour mark in 246th place, and Fatima Moreira de Melo was not far behind in 231st. And Team Pro Ana Marquez was eliminated in 116th place, just around the end of the second hour.

The bubble burst about 2 hours and 40 minutes into the event, as AJIEHA had the unfortunate distinction of finishing in 82nd place. That left vikulinka as the first player to cash, taking home $80.76 for the 81st place finish. A bit later, the 54th place finish of expert fox was the first of the payouts to exceed $100, and play moved along quickly.

One of the two remaining PokerStars players in the field - Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander - soon put her tournament life on the line with [As][8h], but she found herself up against the [Jh][Jc] of Daya. The board ran out [2c][7h][Ks][3s][7c], and Daya picked up a $100 bounty. Sjlot took home $125.32 for her 29th place finish.

That left Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome as the last PokerStars Pro standing, and she had lost some ground in the last few rounds. She finally pushed all-in with [As][4h] on a [Qs][Qh][7d] flop, but gygygygy called with [Qd][Td]. The trip queens remained the best hand, and gygygygy grabbed the $100 bounty. Talonchick departed in 26th place with $154.56.

Adrienne Rowsome 2.jpg

The final two tables began just as players returned from the 3.5-hour break, and action was fairly slow with the bigger-than-usual final table payouts looming. Eventually, the 12th place elimination of SickMagiC and 11th place exit of vayacondiaz made way for hand-for-hand play. It was soon after that dragon1122 of Austria was eliminated in tenth place with $320.27.

MyFlyIsOpen_ has the lead and funniest screen name

The starting chip stacks at the final table were:

Seat 1: upo4kaSpb (271,033 in chips)
Seat 2: Dayá (237,282 in chips)
Seat 3: MyFlyIsOpen_ (472,146 in chips)
Seat 4: Ja707_CZ (123,553 in chips)
Seat 5: CTPEKO3A_AA (183,580 in chips)
Seat 6: durtcom (58,208 in chips)
Seat 7: Vio Huntress (70,933 in chips)
Seat 8: gygygygy (105,392 in chips)
Seat 9: RiusVip (148,873 in chips)

It only took a few hands for short-stacked durtcom to make a move and double through MyFlyIsOpen_, and when Daya took a big pot from the latter, the lead went to Daya.

Gygygygy found her spot and moved all-in from middle position. Upo4kaSpb called, but Daya then pushed all-in from the button. Up04kaSpb called all-in, and Daya had both players covered.

Daya: [Kh][Kd]
gygygygy: [Ah][Jc]
upo4kaSpb: [As][Ks]

The board came [8d][6s][Qh][Td][5d], and Daya's kings held up to eliminate gygygygy in ninth place with $417.75 and up04kaSpb in eighth with $626.62.

On the very next hand, Vio Huntress pushed all-in with [Qh][Js], and RiusVip reraised all-in to isolate, which worked. RiusVip showed [Ad][Kd], and nothing came on the [5d][3d][7h][4c][3h] board to change anything. RiusVip collected chips while Vio Huntress exited in seventh place with $905.12.

CTPEKO3A_AA was the next player to risk her tournament life. It started with a raise from the button, but when RiusVip reraised all-in from the big blind, CTPEKO3A_AA called all-in holding [Kh][Qs]. RiusVip showed [9d][9s], and the race was on. The dealer gave them [5s][7h][Th][8d][Ac] ended that race with the pocket pair intact, and CTPEKO3A_AA had to leave the party in sixth place with $1,183.62.

The next hand saw Ja707_CZ move all-in with [Kc][Jc], but Daya was able to call from the big blind with a dominating [Ad][Jd]. There was no king on the [8c][Jh][4c][5s][Qs] board, and that left Ja707_CZ out in fifth place with $1,487.19.

MyFlyIsOpen_ seemed to have no fear and moved all-in quite a few times during four-handed action. But it was durtcom who did it and found a caller. Durtcom shoved with [Js][Td] from her big blind, but original raiser Daya called with [Kc][Ks]. The first four cards came [7h][6h][Qd][Ah] to give durtcom hopes of a straight, but the [2c] on the river dashed those hopes. Durtcom, one of the winners of our Women's Birthday Flickr competition, took home $2,116.60 for her fourth place finish today.

MyFlyIsOpen_ continued her moves and got involved with RiusVip on a raised flop of [Tc][Jh][6d]. RiusVip bet, and MyFlyIsOpen_ check-raised all-in with [Qc][9d] for the draw. RiusVip called with [6c][6s] for the set of sixes, which held up to the [2s] river card to eliminate MyFlyIsOpen_ in third place with $2,812.85.

Portugal vs. Estonia for the big win

The final two players displayed these starting stacks:

Seat 2: Dayá (974,676 in chips)
Seat 9: RiusVip (696,324 in chips)

RiusVip fought and eventually took the lead with this important double-up:

RSS readers click through to see replay

Daya was short stacked and fought for a few hands. The final hand then started with a raise from Daya and call from RiusVip to see a [Jd][Ah][3d] flop. Daya bet, and RiusVip check-raised. Daya moved all-in for 249,552 with [Ac][4s] for top pair, and RiusVip called with [Qd][Js] for middle pair. But the [Jc] showed up on the turn for trip jacks, and the [8c] on the river ended the hand. Daya of Estonia had to accept second place and $3,815.45.

RiusVip of Portugal claimed the largest Women's Sunday first prize in its one-year history. Congratulations!

Thanks to everyone who has supported the Women's Sunday in its first year! Happy Birthday to all of us!

Women's Sunday 1st Birthday Results for 03/25/12:

1st place: RiusVip ($5,236.13)

4th place: durtcom ($2,116.60)

There were a plethora of PokerStars pros in the field today, each bearing a $50 bounty. Team Pro Liv Boeree was the first of the group to be eliminated in the first hour, and Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was out soon after.

In the second hour, Team Pro Ana Marquez made her exit in 123rd place, and soon after, fellow Team Pro Vanessa Selbst was ousted in 114th place with Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome one spot behind in 113th. The last Team Pro standing was Celina Lin, and she was eliminated in 103rd place.

At the two-hour mark, only five tables remained, and there were only two tables as the next hour approached. Play moved very quickly, and the elimination of AJIEHA in 11th place set hand-for-hand play into motion. Moments later, lilla237 moved all-in with [4d][4s], and LolaPichora called with [Kh][Qh]. The board came [5h][Ks][Qd][Jd][6h], giving LolaPichora two pair and eliminating lilla237 in tenth place with $192.80.

Lulu.pk70 leads final table

In the beginning of Level 17, with blinds at 1,500/3,000 and a 300 ante, players began the final table action with these stacks:

Seat 1: crista92 (87,026 in chips)
Seat 2: Lenis65 (41,396 in chips)
Seat 3: .Ta2.Terry! (118,850 in chips)
Seat 4: lissonbj (55,791 in chips)
Seat 5: XWgalegaWX (15,254 in chips)
Seat 6: lulu.pk70 (171,240 in chips)
Seat 7: OWLsleepy (68,477 in chips)
Seat 8: R@!$er666 (48,167 in chips)
Seat 9: LolaPichora (116,799 in chips)

WS FT 03.18.12.JPG

XWgalegaWX was the first to make a big move all-in, and LolaPichora called from the big blind with [Ks][Jd]. XWgalegaWX was on the line with [9s][9h], but the race ended when the [8s][8d][6h] flop was followed by a [Jh] turn card. The [As] on the river ensured LolaPichora the best two pair, and XWgalegaWX was gone in ninth place with $228.95.

Lenis65 was the next to move, doing it from the small blind with [Ah][Js]. Original raiser OWLsleepy called with [Qh][Qc], and the board was watched with great interest as it came [Qd][Th][Jc][Ts][6d]. OWLsleepy made a full house by the turn, and that sent Lenis65 out in eighth place with $301.25.

Double-up time ensued, as lissonbj and R@!$er666 each doubled through LolaPichora, and .Ta2.Terry! and crista92 each doubled through lulu.pk70. OWLsleepy then doubled through LolaPichora, but the latter came back to double through crista92.

That left crista92 in a position to move, and she did so with [Ad][Qs] from the big blind. Original raiser LolaPichora had [Ts][9h] in the small blind but made a straight on the [7d][6c][Qd][Ah][8h] board. Crista92 was gone in seventh place with $421.75.

OWLsleepy put her tournament life on the line with [Ah][5s], and LolaPichora called from the button with [4h][4c]. The board of [8c][8d][Kh][6d][9c] gave LolaPichora two pair and eliminated OWLsleepy in sixth place with $542.25.

More double-ups came about when R@!$er666 doubled through both lulu.pk70 and .Ta.Terry!. And LolaPichora hit a big one with this double through lissonbj:

RSS readers click through to see replay

Lissonbj doubled through R@!$er666 to stay in action, while R@!$er666 doubled through .Ta.Terry! and LolaPichora to do the same.

Lulu.pk70 then moved all-in with [Jd][Jc], and LolaPichora called from the big blind with [Ad][6s]. The flop of [5h][9c][Qs] was innocent enough, but the [Ac] turn gave LolaPichora the lead and the [6h] on the river gave her two pair. Lulu.pk70 had to accept fifth place with $698.90 in cash.

.Ta2Terry! was all-in again, this time with [Jd][9d], and LolaPichora was the caller holding [As][Th]. The board came [3h][7c][7s][8c][2c], and the ace kicker played to eliminate .Ta2.Terry! in fourth place with $1,024.25.

Lissonbj and LolaPichora tangled several times. The last time, however, started with a raise from LolaPichora from the small blind. Lissonbj reraised all-in from the big blind with [Qd][Jc], and LolaPichora called with a dominating [As][Qc]. The board of [Kh][4c][3h][Tc][2h] changed nothing, and lissonbj hit the rail in third place with $1,361.65.

Tough heads-up match

Action started between the final two players with these chip counts:

Seat 8: R@!$er666 (165,144 in chips)
Seat 9: LolaPichora (557,856 in chips)

It didn't take long for R@!$er666 to make a move and double-up with pocket jacks against A-Q. R@!$er666 continued to soar, but LolaPichora took a pot worth 362,400 chips to maintain a solid lead.

Finally, R@!$er666 pushed again, this time with [Js][8d], and LolaPichora called with [Ad][9d]. The dealer gave them a [Ks]6h][Ah] flop, which pair the ace of LolaPichora. The [Qs] turn and [Jc] river ended the tournament with R@!$er666 in second place with $1,807.50.

LolaPichora of Costa Rica won the tournament and $2,464.33 in cash. Congratulations!

FlipLeader wins flips and the Women’s Sunday for nearly $3K

Sunday, March 11th, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgThe countdown is on as the Women's Sunday approaches its first birthday. On March 25, what started as an experiment will celebrate its growth into the premiere online women's poker tournament in the world, and we cannot wait to get the party started!

That party is already in motion with our Flickr birthday photo competition, which looks to award the best celebratory photos with $55 Women's Sunday seats and a $215 Sunday Million seat to the overall winner. Keep your eyes on this blog space for more exciting news to come, including freerolls, a web chat with your favorite female Team PokerStars Pros, and a very special March 25 Women's Sunday tournament.

Today, we had another Women's Sunday with a fabulous turnout, as shown by the registration numbers here:

Total players: 310
Prize pool: $15,500.00
Paid finishers: 45

Of the players in the field with the PokerStars logo next to their names, Team Pro Ana Marquez was the first one to be eliminated. Her opponent was awarded the $50 bounty for the elimination in the first hour of play.

Later in the tournament Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome exited in 131st place, and Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was fairly close behind in 119th place.

The money bubble burst in the third hour of play, and PEGGASISS became the first one to cash for $93.00 today in 45th place. Payouts increased as the field decreased, and there were only two tables left as the three-hour mark approached.

After playerrr92 left in 12th place, a big hand developed that led directly to the final table. GanatodoAA was on a very short stack and pushed all-in for 6,208 with [Ad][7c], and 7mango then moved all-in for 64,852 with [Ac][6s]. Lolas_mamma then called both all-ins from the small blind with [Qd][Qh]. The board of [4h][2h][6h][8h][Qc] gave Lolas_mamma the flush and eliminated ganatodoAA in 11th place and 7mango in tenth, each winning $232.50.

Lolas_mamma manages a starting chip lead

Toward the end of Level 18, with blinds of 2,000/4,000 and a 400 ante, the final nine players started action with these chip stacks:

Seat 1: Xenapoker (31,768 in chips)
Seat 2: Lolas_mamma (170,152 in chips)
Seat 3: fournz (156,500 in chips)
Seat 4: FlipLeader (154,638 in chips)
Seat 5: carrie125 (154,406 in chips)
Seat 6: NLVixen (90,648 in chips)
Seat 7: Vitz25 (85,062 in chips)
Seat 8: cep27 (51,816 in chips)
Seat 9: Fish4Them (35,010 in chips)

WS FT 03.11.12.JPG

The shorter stacks had some great opportunities to double early, and they did just that. Xenapoker did it through fournz, while cep27 doubled through NLVixen and then again through carrie125. Fish4Them doubled once through FlipLeader and again through carrie125.

With carrie125 as the new short stack holding only 1,054 chips, she moved all-in preflop with [Jc][4c]. NLVixen called, and when Vitz25 raised, NLVixen called that as well. The flop came [7h][Qs][Th], and NLVixen bet. Vitz25 called all-in with [Kc][Qc] for top pair, and NLVixen called with [Kh][Tc] for middle pair. But the [Td] on the turn made trips for NLVixen, and the [8s] on the river ended the hand. Carrie125 left in ninth place with $271.25, and Vitz25 took eighth place and $372.00.

FlipLeader doubled through Fish4Them to regain an earlier lead, and the latter moved all-in a few hands later. The hand actually started with cep27 pushing all-in from the small blind with [7c][6c], and Fish4Them called all-in with [Kh][Qd]. The board came [9s][6h][5h][Tc][Ad] and gave cep27 the pair of sixes, and Fish4Them was ousted in seventh place with $527.00.

NLVixen doubled through FlipLeader to stay in action, and Xenapoker did the same through Lolas_mamma. But Xenapoker was ready to move again soon after. It started innocently enough, with FlipLeader limping and Xenapoker checking her big blind. The flop came [8d][2d][9d], and a bet and raise led to Xenapoker calling all-in with [9h][2c] for two pair, but FlipLeader showed [9c][8c] for the better two pair. The [6c] turn and [Ad] river finished the hand with Xenapoker out in sixth place with $682.00.

Double-ups galore

More double-ups came when fournz doubled through cep27 and Lolas_mamma doubled through fournz. Cep27 then doubled through Lolas_mamma, who then did the same again through fournz. FlipLeader then got in on the action and doubled through Lolas_mamma, but the latter stayed alive with another big pot and then a double through cep27.

Fournz then made a move with [As][Td], and FlipLeader reraised all-in from the button to isolate, which worked. FlipLeader showed [Ad][Js], and though the first four cards on the board came [6c][Qs][Ah][Ts] to give fournz two pair, the [Ks] on the turn provided the straight for FlipLeader. Fournz exited in fifth place with $883.50.

Cep27 was the next player at risk, and she moved with [As][Js]. Lolas_mamma was along for the ride with [Qs][Ts], and the [5d][2h][Kd][Jd][Ah] gave her a straight. Cep27 had to leave in fourth place with $1,278.75.

NLVixen made her move with [Kd][Jc], and FlipLeader called with [Ad][9s]. The board of [6h][8d][Qc][Th][Jd] gave FlipLeader the straight, and NLVixen was eliminated in third place with $1,705.00.

Heads-up is all action

Seat 2: Lolas_mamma (307546 in chips)
Seat 4: FlipLeader (622454 in chips)

The fifth hand saw a move from Lolas_mamma that nearly evened the stacks:

Only a few rounds later, though, FlipLeader doubled back through with pocket jacks over A-T. That left Lolas_mamma with less than 10K in chips and all-in with her next big blind holding [9c][5s]. FlipLeader had [Jh][2h] and only improved on the [8d][7s][4c][2c][Td] board. Lolas_mamma had to settle for second place and $2,247.50.

FlipLeader of Hungary won $2,999.25 and the Women's Sunday title. Congratulations!

Women's Sunday Results for 03/11/12:

1st place: FlipLeader ($2,999.25)
2nd place: Lolas_mamma ($2,247.50)
3rd place: NLVixen ($1,705.00)
4th place: cep27 ($1,278.75)
5th place: fournz ($883.50)
6th place: Xenapoker ($682.00)
7th place: Fish4Them ($527.00)
8th place: Vitz25 ($372.00)
9th place: carrie125 ($271.25)

Camogie captures Women’s Sunday title for Ireland

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgIn three weeks, the Women's Sunday will experience its first birthday! And instead of buying gifts for the Women's Sunday, it will be giving presents to the players who helped make the tournament such a success. That makes it a birthday for the women of PokerStars, in a way.

For starters, there is a Flickr photo competition being held to find the best pictures of players celebrating the Women's Sunday birthday. The top photos when the competition closes on March 18 will win Women's Sunday seats worth $55 each, and the overall winner will receive a $215 ticket to the Sunday Million. But that's not all! There will be more excitement announced in the coming weeks to celebrate, including a live web chat with some of the Team Pros and more giveaways. Stay tuned!

This week, the Women's Sunday had a solid turnout, with registration revealing these numbers:

Total players: 263
Prize pool: $13,150.00
Paid finishers: 45

The diverse field included several professional players with the red spade logo next to their names. They each offered a $50 bounty, and someone was able to get the first one courtesy of Team PokerStars Pro Vicky Coren, who exited in the first hour of play. Team Pro Ana Marquez also got in on the action but exited in 99th place.

Team Pro Celina Lin started strong and claimed the chip lead in the second hour of the tournament. She tweeted about it, along with the rough beat she took after that:

YeeHa! Chip Leader in the Women's Sunday. Fingers crossed @PokerStarsWomen OMG! I haven't even finished my tweet just lost AA < 66 < JJ all in pre

That hit then led to Celina's elimination in 63rd place.

Team Pokerstars Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was still going strong in the third hour, though, as she headed past the money bubble and hoped for a final table. But she ended her tournament in 35th place when her K-Q couldn't beat A-T. Gluckskatze captured her $50 bounty, and Adrienne cashed out for $85.47.

Adrienne Rowsome 2.jpg

Heading toward the end of the third hour, only two tables remained, and the field shrank further as WallterBish exited in 14th place, allaround in 13th, and rozdaly in 12th. The 11th place exit of PINK PANTER8 took the remaining players into hand-for-hand, and moments later, short-stacked A_FT_2004 pushed with [As][2h] against the [Jd][7d] of Camogie in a battle of the blinds. The board of [Tc][3c][4c][7c][Jh] gave Camogie two pair and eliminated A_FT_2004 in ninth place with $197.25.

Camogie and lulu.pk70 battle for the lead

The starting stacks at the final table were as follows:

Seat 1: kapzeke (65,087 in chips)
Seat 2: Ja707_CZ (126,258 in chips)
Seat 3: Iri$ka02 (106,105 in chips)
Seat 4: Glückskatze (48,682 in chips)
Seat 5: durrr085 (59,419 in chips)
Seat 6: lilo lil (17,514 in chips)
Seat 7: lulu.pk70 (157,475 in chips)
Seat 8: Camogie (161,105 in chips)
Seat 9: KiawahGolf68 (47,355 in chips)

WS FT 03.04.12.JPG

It didn't take long for big hands to develop, and one of those eliminated two players. It started with lilo lil moving all-in UTG. KiawahGolf68 and Ja707_CZ both called, but durrr085 reraised all-in from the big blind. KiawahGolf68 folded, but Ja707_CZ called and had both players covered.

Ja707_CZ: [Ah][Qs]
durrr085: [As][Jc]
lilo lil: [Ad][6d]

The board came [Kd][7s][Js][3s][Th], giving Ja707_CZ the straight to eliminate lilo lil in ninth place for $230.12 and durrr085 in eighth for $315.60. It also put Ja707_CZ in the chip lead.

The next big hand started with a raise from lulu.pk70 and call from KiawahGolf68. Kapzeke reraised all-in for nearly 30K with [3s][3c], which prompted a fold from lulu.pk70 but a call from KiawahGolf68 with [Jc][Tc]. The board of [6s][Jd][5c][6h][6d] gave KiawahGolf68 the full house and sent kapzeke packing in seventh place with $447.10.

Only four hands later, Gluckskatze pushed from the button with [Ac][Td], and original raiser KiawahGolf68 called with [Jd][Jh]. The board of [7c][4h][5h][2d][6c] changed nothing, and Gluckskatze had to depart in sixth place with $578.60.

Lulu.pk70 had become the short stack and stayed that way, even after doubling through Ja707_CZ. But it was KiawahGolf68 as the next player at risk. The hand started with a raised pot from small blind Camogie and big blind KiawahGolf68 to see a [3s][Js][9h] flop. A bet and call brought the [9d] on the turn, and Camogie bet out. KiawahGolf68 raised, and Camogie pushed all-in. KiawahGolf68 called for her tournament life with [As][6s], but the two pair of Camogie with [Kh][Jd] was ahead. The [Jh] on the river only made that into a full house and left KiawahGolf68 out in fifth with $749.55.

Another double for lulu.pk70 came at the expense of Iri$ka02, but the latter doubled back through the former to reverse the action. Iri$ka02 then doubled again, this time through Camogie, and briefly took the chip lead.

When Ja707_CZ moved all-in preflop with [Ad][8s], original raiser Camogie called with [6h][6d], and that pair held up to the [3h][5c][Kh][Jc][2c] board. That sent Ja707_CZ out in fourth place with $1,084.87.

In the very next hand, lulu.pk70 doubled through Iri$ka02 in this hand to change everything:

RSS readers click through to see replay

Iri$ka02 risker her last 66,945 chips on the next hand with [Ac][2s], and Camogie was there with [Ad][2d]. What looked like a chop changed to a flush on the [Qh][Kd][7d][4s][5d] board. That flush eliminated Iri$ka02 in third place with $1,446.50.

Nearly even for heads-up play

Play between the last two players started with lulu.pk70 holding only a slight lead over Camogie:

Seat 7: lulu.pk70 (401,830 in chips)
Seat 8: Camogie (387,170 in chips)

And Camogie took a big pot on the first hand to garner the lead from her opponent. Camogie continued to grind, and several big hands gave her a more dominating lead. It was soon after that the two got involved in another significant hand. A reraised pot led them to see a [5c][8c][6h] flop. Camogie bet, lulu.pk70 raised all-in with [Ac][5d] for bottom pair, and Camogie called with [Kc][Kh] for the overpair. The [3h] turn and [Qd] river finished the hand, leaving lulu.pk70 out in second place with $1,906.75.

Camogie of Ireland won the tournament and $2,544.64. Congratulations!

Women's Sunday Results for 03/04/12:

1st place: Camogie ($2,544.64)
2nd place: lulu.pk70 ($1,906.75)
3rd place: Iri$ka02 ($1,446.50)
4th place: Ja707_CZ ($1,084.87
5th place: KiawahGolf68 ($749.55)
6th place: Gluckskatze ($578.60)
7th place: kapzeke ($447.10)
8th place: durrr085 ($315.60)
9th place: lilo lil ($230.12)

PokerStars Women: Flickr Photo Competition

Thursday, March 1st, 2012

PS Women logo.jpgPokerStars loves a good celebration. We celebrate billionth hands on a regular basis, and you might remember the weeks-long festivities surrounding PokerStars' 10th Anniversary at the end of 2011. And if you've ever been to a PokerStars live event like the European Poker Tour, you're familiar with the dancers, drinks, food, and entertainment. The "P" in PS may stand for party. That's how we roll.

PokerStars Women is preparing for its own celebration, as the Women's Sunday turns ONE year old in March! Unfortunately, we can't offer cocktails or rap stars performing on stage, but we can offer prizes, freerolls, and chances to interact with some of the female Team PokerStars Pros. More details will be announced in the coming days and weeks.

Today, we're announcing our Female Flickr Photo competition! From March 1 through 18, women are encouraged to submit photos to our PokerStars Flickr account in order to win prizes. The best 10 photos will win $55 Women's Sunday tickets, and the overall winner will receive a $215 Sunday Million ticket. One of our Team Pros will be selecting the winners.

You may be wondering what kind of photos we're looking for. The Women's Sunday is turning one, and we're celebrating! So we want to see your pictures of a celebration. This might be a photo of you doing a happy dance, celebrating your love of poker, or a photo of yourself in your best party hat. (If it helps, we do love some creative hats.) And here's how you submit your photo:

• Join the "PokerStars Women" group on Flickr here.
• Upload a photo to your own Flickr account.
• Title the photo "PokerStars Women's Sunday Birthday" with your PokerStars screen name, and include the "PokerStars" tag.
• Go to the photo and click the "Actions" tab above it.
• Select "add to group" and choose "PokerStars Women."

The Female Flickr Photo contest starts today. It will close at midnight Eastern Time on March 18.

This is only the first of several of our Women's Sunday Birthday plans, so stay tuned for more!

Lelya127 of Russia claims $3,089.59 and Women’s Sunday title

Sunday, February 26th, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgPokerStars Women is looking forward to March. Obviously, spring weather will be nice, but there's a little something happening next month that will be even more special. While we can't leak the details now, let's just say that the Women's Sunday will have its first birthday in March. But you already knew that, right? It's on your calendars, certainly.

Keep your eyes on the PokerStars blog for more information in the coming days and weeks. We're bursting at the seams to tell you some of the great things we have planned!

Meanwhile, we had the excitement of a rather well-attended Women's Sunday today! The final numbers were the best of 2012 thus far:

Total players: 322
Prize pool: $16,100.00
Paid finishers: 54

The action was fast and furious, and one of the first casualties was Team PokerStars Sports Star Fatima Moreira de Melo. Team Pro Ana Marquez joined the tournament as well but hit the rail soon after.

Well into the third hour and just past the money bubble, Team Pro Celina Lin exited in 47th place, and she tweeted, "Just busted Women's Sunday. Had AA vs QQ all in pre, opponent of course makes quad Qs! Yikes." Moments later, Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome shoved her short stack to no avail and left in 43rd place.

Friend of PokerStars Charlotte "Sjlot" Van Brabander was the last member of the PokerStars team standing, as well as the last chance a player to grab a $50 knockout bounty.

Charlotte Van Brabander.jpg

Charlotte also left the party inside that hour, grabbing $88.55 for her 37th place finish.

At the end of the third hour, three tables remained in action, but they were quickly reduced to two. With the eventual eliminations of Owelie in 12th place and xhedyx in 11th, hand-for-hand play started just after the half-hour break. That led to some cautious play until Doomi4ka moved all-in from the big blind. Original raiser luna1094 called from the small blind with [Kh][Kc], and Doomi4ka showed [Ah][7s]. No ace came on the [3h][Td][Qh][Jh][9s] board, and Doomi4ka left in tenth place with $209.30.

Zsharky sinks teeth into chip lead

The final table began in the first half of Level 20 with blinds of 3,000/6,000 and a 600 ante. Players' starting stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: luna1094 (158,724 in chips)
Seat 2: franzi59 (143,030 in chips)
Seat 3: ruby8578 (76,938 in chips)
Seat 4: bubbajojo92 (48,025 in chips)
Seat 5: zsharky (167,442 in chips)
Seat 6: acesalice (121,162 in chips)
Seat 7: le0510 (47,173 in chips)
Seat 8: sdm302808 (90,637 in chips)
Seat 9: Lelya127 (112,869 in chips)

WS FT 02.26.12.JPG

Though zsharky was the first player to climb above 200K in chips, luna1094 was close behind. When sdm302808 moved all-in with [Ah][Qc], luna1094 called with [Ac][Kc], which held up to the [8c][9s][4d][Kd][Qh] board. Sdm302808 was gone in ninth place with $267.26, and luna1094 took over the chip lead.

A few hands later, le0510 pushed her short stack all-in with [7h][7d], and zsharky was there with [Qs][Th]. The board came [6d][Tc][Ks][Jh][8d] to give zsharky the better pair, and le0510 took off in eighth place with $362.25.

Bubbajojo92 made a move and was able to double through acesalice. Shortly after, bubbajojo92 made another move, that time for 89,150 chips with [Tc][Th]. Franzi59 called with [Ad][Ac], though, and those aces held up to the [4s][Js][2h][5h][Kd] board. Bubbajojo92 ended her tournament in seventh place with $523.25.

Acesalice wasn't long after losing the hand to bubbajojo92 and pushed all-in with [Js][Jd], hoping for her own double-up. Ruby8578 was along for the ride with [As][9d] but caught the first card on the [Ad][5h][5c] flop. The [4s] on the turn and [Td] on the river gave ruby8578 the best hand and eliminated acesalice in sixth place with $684.25.

Lelya127 doubled through luna1094 to stay in the game, but a bit later, this double-up through zsharky put her in the chip lead:

Then it was franzi59's turn to take over. When ruby8578 moved all-in from the small blind, original raiser franzi59 called with [Qc][Jd], which dominated the [Qh][Td] of ruby8578. The board of [5d][6d][9h][3c][6h] changed nothing, and ruby8578 exited in fifth place with $901.60.

On the very next hand, luna1094 moved all-in for 206,892 chips with [Qd][Qs], and original raiser franzi59 was the caller again, this time with [Tc][Td]. But the very first card on the flop was the [Td], and the other cards that followed on the board were [8c][6d][9s][Ad]. The set of tens sent luna1094 out in fourth place with $1,288.00.

Zsharky got involved with franzi59, and the two went to see flop of [2c][Ks][2s]. They both checked to the [Qs] on the turn, at which point franzi59 bet, zsharky raised, and franzi59 reraised all-in. Zsharky called with [Ac][Ad] for two pair, and franzi59 showed [As][Kc] for the spade flush draw and lower two pair. The [9s] on the river made the flush, and zsharky was ousted in third place with $1,690.50.

Contentious heads-up match

The final two players started their battle with these counts:

Seat 2: franzi59 (699,124 in chips)
Seat 9: Lelya127 (266,876 in chips)

Lelya127 didn't take long to find a spot to double up with queens over sixes. Franzi59 continued to stay aggressive but couldn't retake the lead once Lelya127 grabbed it.

Finally, franzi59 put it on the line with [Qc][6h], and Lelya127 woke up with [Qh][Qd]. The board ran out [Ah][Js][3s][7c][5c], and franzi59 was eliminated in second place with $2,294.25.

Lelya127 of Russia won the Women's Sunday and $3,089.59. Congratulations!

Nice win for nicesttroll in the February 12 Women’s Sunday

Sunday, February 12th, 2012

Sunday Special corner logo.jpgIt was just another Sunday in February. Winter raged in many places throughout the world, with cold temperatures keeping players indoors and near a heat source. But for players on PokerStars, it was anything but an ordinary Sunday, as Double Vision took over and offered many players the opportunity to play two Sunday Storm tournaments or two Sunday Millions, among other options.

And the women of PokerStars had their special tournament. As usual, the $55 Women's Sunday offered them the chance to compete against other women in a weekly event that has become a staple on the schedule. Women have the chance to play in the Women's Poker League all week long, as well as in other events set aside for ladies only, but the Women's Sunday is now a tradition that draws in the best of the best.

This week, there was a solid crowd at the tables for the action:

Total players: 301
Prize pool: $15,050.00
Paid finishers: 45

There were three PokerStars players in the field, each with a $50 bounty on her head. Team Online's Adrienne "talonchick" Rowsome was the first to exit, heading out in 133rd place. Team Pro Liv Boeree was the next to go, out in 79th place in the last minutes of the second hour.

Team Pro Ana Marquez of Spain made a run for the money but eventually exited in 49th place, just before the bubble.

When the bubble burst moments later, Lady Polaris was the first to cash for $90.30, and play continued on until only two tables remained at the three-hour mark. When kassike was eliminated in 11th place about 10 minutes later, hand-for-hand play ensued.

It took several minutes before the deciding hand developed. Bobette1 moved all-in from the button, and nicesttroll reraised all-in to isolate with [Ad][Ks], which worked. Bobette1 showed [Kh][Qh], and the board of [Ah][Qc][9h][3c][2s] allowed nicesttroll's hand to remain in the lead. Bobette1 was gone in tenth place with $225.75.

Ink_Cool cruises with final table chip lead-

The final table began in Level 19 with blinds of 2,500/5,000 and a 500 ante. Players' starting stacks were as follows:

Seat 1: xAlyssaxx (115,598 in chips)
Seat 2: stodderkonen (34,218 in chips)
Seat 3: sandrushe (134,145 in chips)
Seat 4: nicesttroll (152,175 in chips)
Seat 5: linda230 (55,792 in chips)
Seat 6: Ink_Cool (223,107 in chips)
Seat 7: IntheMoment (90,897 in chips)
Seat 8: Lenis65 (66,656 in chips)
Seat 9: kowider (30,412 in chips)

On the second hand of action, stodderkonen pushed all-in, and nicesttroll reraised all-in. Everyone else folded, and nicesttroll showed [Ad][Qs], which was racing against the [4d][4h] of stodderkonen. The board came [Kc][8h][6d][8d][Qd], and nicesttroll had the two best pair. Last week's Women's Sunday champion, stodderkonen, left this week in ninth place with $263.37.

Kowider doubled through sandrushe, as did linda230. Sandrushe then doubled through nicesttroll but remained the short stack at the table. Kowider doubled again, this time through nicesttroll.

It was sandrushe's turn to move. When nicesttroll raised all-in UTG with [Ah][7h], sandrushe called all-in from the big blind with [Ac][Kd]. But the flop brought [5s][7d][4s] to give nicesttroll top pair, and nothing about the [Jh] turn or [3c] river changed that. Sandrushe was swept away in eighth place with $361.20.

Lenis65 doubled through nicesttroll, and linda230 attempted a double-up as well. Linda230 moved all-in from the big blind with [6c][6h], and original raiser kowider called with [Ad][Qc]. The flop of [3h][Js][As] gave kowider the advantage, and neither the [2s] turn nor the [9c] river made a difference as to the outcome. Linda230 left in seventh place with $511.70.

Former Women's Sunday champion xAlyssaxx, was the next to risk it all, moving all-in UTG with [Kc][Qc]. Kowider called from the big blind with [9h][9c], and the board of [5s][Ac][6s][2c][Td] was inconsequential. The nines held up to eliminate xAlyssaxx in sixth place with $662.20.

Nicesttroll doubled through Lenis65, and the latter then moved all-in on the next hand for 5,923 chips. Nicesttroll and IntheMoment limped along to see a [Tc][Qh][7c] flop. A bet and call brought the [2s] turn, and they checked to see the [9s] river. They both checked again, and nicesttroll showed [Qc][6c] for top pair. IntheMoment lost with [As][Js], and Lenis65 simply mucked and left in fifth place with $857.85.

Nicesttroll struggles but takes the lead

This double-up for nicesttroll turned things around for her:

IntheMoment was no stranger to Women's Sunday final tables. This one wasn't going as planned, though, and she got involved with nicesttroll to see a [Ah][Jd][2h] flop. A bet from IntheMoment brought a check-call from nicesttroll and the [Th] on the turn. IntheMoment pushed all-in for little less than 110K with [As][Kd] for top pair, but nicesttroll called with [Ks][Qc] for the turned straight. The [4s] on the river ended the tournament for IntheMoment, who took home $1,241.62 for fourth place.

Kowider was creeping toward the lead but still a few chips behind nicesttroll. The two then tangled as kowider raised preflop, nicesttroll reraised, and kowider moved all-in with [7d][7c]. Nicesttroll called with [Ad][Jh]. The flop of [4c][8h][9s] was innocent enough, but the [Js] on the turn gave nicesttroll the lead. The [4d] on the river ended kowider's tournament, with $1,655.50 awarded for third place.

A true heads-up battle

Action started with these counts:

Seat 4: nicesttroll (756,438 in chips)
Seat 6: Ink_Cool (146,562 in chips)

On the second hand of heads-up play, Ink_Cool doubled with A-9 over Q-4, and Ink_Cook continued to climb, nearly evening the chip stacks. However, nicesttroll put Ink_Cool to the test on several occasions, once garnering a 348K pot from the aggression, and regained the lead.

Ink_Cool finally risked it all with [As][3c], but nicesttroll just so happened to have [Ah][4c]. And the board of [Jh][5s][3h][2h][6s] gave nicesttroll the six-high straight, leaving Ink_Cool out in second place with $2,182.25.

Nicesttroll of Gibraltar won this week's Women's Sunday and $2,912.29. Congratulations!
