20,353 players entered, and only one survived.

The massiveness of SCOOP Event #8's $33 NLHE caused a spill over to second day for this event. 4,500 players walked away with some money for their troubles. But, it was the final nine that took home the lion's share of the $610,590.00 prize pool that crushed the $250,000 guarantee by PokerStars.

On the first day (write-up found here) we saw four Team PokerStars pros wade through the massive field for a payday (Those who finished in the money included Vanessa Rousso in 3727th place, Peter Eastgate in 3023rd, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier in 1312th, and Marcin "Goral" Horecki in 974th place).

To end the day scarface0928 and celofyz33 would rule the day with 18 million chip stacks going into day 2.

dunkmaster50 started the day fourth in chips but he would be slammed in tenth place as the final table bubble boy but would grab $2,137.07 on his $33 investment.

The tournament would belong to BodogBanshee however as he would take the SCOOP Championship watch along with the $54,953.11 earned as the tonight's Event #8 NLHE low buy-in champion!

This tournament was a poker tournament player's dream come true. First of all, Event 8 was a straight up, no frills NLHE event. Second, it was a $30 + $3 buy-in with a $250,000 guarantee. And third, it was a two-day event, which meant that those going deep in the tournament would not be subjected to a marathon that would test the stamina of them all.

What was not to like?

Evidently, there were 20,353 players who liked it enough to enter, which whipped right past the guarantee to create a $610,590.00 prize pool. The final 4,500 finishers would receive a piece of it, and the low portion of Event 8 was about to see plenty of high-energy action at the seemingly endless number of virtual poker tables.

That was exactly what happened, as players were eliminated faster than any eye could keep up. And amazingly, the money bubble hit just before the 4.5-hour mark, meaning that more than 15,000 players left in just that amount of time. So, in Level 16, hand-for-hand play determined that edelkraut69 was to be the bubble player, leaving in 4501st place with nothing but four and a half hours of poker memories - and possibly a bad beat story to boot. But tsdavis111 had few complaints, as he was the first to cash in 4500th place with $30.52.

As for the Team PokerStars Pro contingent, quite a few of them opted for the higher buy-ins and the concurrently running HORSE events, but several did show up for the low buy-in NLHE excitement, including Andre Akkari, Alex Gomes, Noah Boeken, Katja Thater, Chris Moneymaker, Hevan Khan, Steve Paul-Ambrose, William Thorson, and Victor Ramdin. Those who finished in the money included Vanessa Rousso in 3727th place, Peter Eastgate in 3023rd, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier in 1312th, and Marcin "Goral" Horecki in 974th place. After that, it was all up to potential future PS pros.

Play continued, as it should. And more players exited at record speed. As the night finally began to wind down and the plan to cut play at the end of Level 44, some leaders finally came into view. by the time the field thinned to less than 50 players, there were several near the top of the leaderboard with over 10 million chips. But out of the four at that point, only two were solidly there and approaching the 15 million mark. BodogBanshee and The O Dose were not only neck-and-neck in chip counts but seated at the same table as well.

But The O Dose took a hit when another player doubled through him, and he was catapulted down to the 8 million chip arena. Still, he was in seventh place on the board, but it had to hurt. That table also closed, and as players moved, it became clear that BodogBanshee had another contender in scarface0928, who jumped up to 15 million chips and the lead. With four tables remaining, it was becoming a contentious fight to finish the day with the most chips.

BodogBanshee was having none of it. He took back the chip lead with the following hand:

It was clearly the intention of scarface0928 to slip back into the top spot before the end of the night, and the following hand was a monster and went a long way to doing just that:

That put scarface0928 near the 24 million chip mark, quite a bit ahead of the still-climbing BodogBanshee. That was until magicdave2 doubled through the latter. BodogBanshee then gave over a close-to-6 million chip pot to dunkmaster50 to send him below the 10 million mark. A break for the evening was sorely needed.

In the last few minutes of play during Level 44, celofyz33, who had been near the top for awhile, made some moves to close in on scarface0928, and frado82 jumped at the end of the day to make it to third chip position. BodogBanshee finished the night in 18th place.

Players were asked to return in just under 12 hours, at 16:30pm ET on Monday, April 6, to finish the tournament and play until a winner is determined. They will begin with Level 45, with blinds at 150,000/300,000 and a 37,500 ante.
